Awakening
Venue Style Sheet
Part 1: Basic Information Part 2: Styles of Play Style of Play Pace (How fast do stories emerge, develop, and resolve?) - Variable, on a story-by-story basis; see VST reports for specific plot ratings. Rating Description Part 3: Description of Venue (yeah, yeah, more to come here) Part 4: Storytelling Mechanics Storytelling mechanics are per the camarilla\'s ruleset and all suppliments. One clarification: since a mage has a vulnerability to those who know his \"real name\" (as opposed to shadow name), players may spend their PC\'s experience points on the Status merit (focused in Public Records) to reflect a well-made false identity, and records to back it up. Yes, it is possible by the wording of the merit in Mage: The Awakening. I checked. ***** Proxy rules ***** A complete character sheet and experience log will be sent to the storyteller\'s email address in cut and pasted format. Attachments will not be accepted. A list of that character\'s goals for the visit will be included, and deviation from the stated goals will result in storyteller action, possibly resulting in negative consequences for the character. If the proxy is conducted via email, a copy will
be sent to the storyteller. If the proxy is conducted via IRC or another
chat method, a log will be sent to the storyteller. Until the storyteller
has approved these actions, the scene and proxy are \"in limbo\"
and resolution occurs upon ST approval. ***** Travel risks ***** Magical Travel: Paradox, as well as the risk of discovery by the Seers. Consider this an ST warning. Mundane Travel: There are various methods of getting to Colorado Springs mundanely. Air Travel - In the World of Darkness, if you can afford an airplane ticket you certainly won\'t mind a bit of scrutiny into your identity, and perhaps an unobtrusive check of your luggage. Automobile Travel - A startling dichotomy between
strong police presence on the highways, and the unusually-common burned-out
cars seen on the shoulder. Train Travel - If you travel to Colorado Springs by train, please contact the VST. Bus Travel - The safest, most anonymous method of travel. This is what the average citizen finds affordable for their transportation needs for long distances, though quite time-consuming. ***** Visiting characters guidelines ***** Visiting characters will be allowed with ST discretion,
if a player\'s character is deemed unfit for this venue, they will be
given an NPC to portray for the night.
1-3 for downtime actions/scenes, upon storyteller approval.
Venue History ********** Original 5 founders of the chantry, who, on December 31st 1890 made that historic trek into the mountains near Colorado City... Anassa: Obrimos, Silver Ladder Remora: Moros, Mysterium Ritter: Thyrsus, Adamantine Arrow Zebulon: Mastigos, Guardian of the Veil Calypso: Acanthus, unaligned ******************** History between events: These 5 form \"The Masters of the Enigma\", the major cabal in Colorado Springs for the next hundred years. The group dedicates themselves to the puzzle of returning Mr. Smith (a.k.a. The Dark) to captivity, dedicating themselves to this task almost exclusively. During this period several searches for secrets and artifacts prove fruitful, but even more are dead ends, necessitating the creation of The Vault under their headquarters. The Vault is a huge, magically-sealed room containing those prizes too dangerous to be left with lesser safeguards. The Dark gathers to itself a large number of awakened Seers of the Throne, who worship it as Exarch. The Masters amass a fortune, enough to continue their researches, but neglect any sort of localized power or influence. ******************** December 31, 1942 Colorado Springs locals present: Anassa and Ritter are the only original two to survive by this time, the rest having been killed in various adventures. Ratchet: Moros, unaligned. The Heirophant of Colorado Springs at this time. He preaches a great deal about equality among mages, freedom, every man finding his own path and not being slaves to Atlantean ideals. He gained his position when Anassa stepped down by being moderate and likeable, a very unusual leader. Iguana: Guardian of the Veil. The public face of the Guardians at the time. When something goes wrong, Iguana shows up and asks questions. Then people disappear. Cancer: Obrimos, Silver Ladder. A very traditional mage, often disagreed with Ratchet and saw him as an unfit leader. Other guests at the party: Insulin: A doctor in her former life, very anti-war; almost a rabid pacifist. Peregrine: Obrimos, Adamantine Arrow. Stoic in public, but warm and jovial when among friends. Saturday: (current PC in the chronicle; talk to Jack Hambly for more info) Ouija: A self-styled fortune-teller/prophetess who sees the world around her as a collection of omens, and shares their warnings with everyone around her. Penrose: Leader of the local vampire group, he left with a great deal more information than he gave out. Marjorie Palmer: Penrose\'s escort. Rockrunner: Sneaky, cunning werewolf; interested in recent spirit-related events. Bloody Jowls: Quiet, brooding werewolf; attended at the behest of Rockrunner. Rakes the Bones: Imperious, agressive werewolf; also convinced to come by Rockrunner. (Speak to their respective VSTs for more info on the vampire and werewolf NPCs) ******************** Events that night: A great deal of discussion between all groups, surprisingly friendly-seeming and not the dour standoff some expected. Very little actual information was revealed from one group to another, most time was spent socializing. A bottle of wine was delivered by Chuck the Manservant, from a Mr. Smith. This made Anassa and Ritter quite paranoid, and brought the evening\'s revelry to an early close. The wine itself was shared among the three groups of supernaturals for examination. Just after the stroke of midnight, Cancer challenged Ratchet to a Duel Arcane. ******************** History since then: Two days later, Cancer slew Ratchet in a Duel Arcane. In Colorado Springs, the tradition of a Showdown at High Noon is followed. Various magics are put up to ensure secrecy and the safety of sleepers, which forces all involved to deal with huge amounts of paradox. This is *not* something which is undertaken lightly by any means. In this particular case, Cancer countered all of Ratchet\'s magical efforts, walked up and decapitated Ratchet with a flaming sword. Iguana and the Guardians went underground for the next 50 years or so, not appearing at any gatherings or events; misbehavior was still punished, but without the pleasantry of a public investigation. Anassa passed away in March of 1974. Ritter left awakened society almost a year later, in February, 1975. He is widely-believed dead by now, however some suspect he still lives somehow. Investigations were made into the Sherman Park incident (see website), but no awakened activity was found to be involved. In mid-2005, the current Masters recieved another message of some sort from Mr. Smith, but none will talk about it. Invitations were sent to various mages to attend a party on halloween, where the previously described events were re-lived by the guests under a series of potent magical effects. Now knowing some of the chantry\'s history and purpose, they were invited to remain and assist; almost all attendees took the offer.
